A Casa Update

Hola!
Here is a little update for those of you who still follow us on the blog.
I've not been so good this year about keeping you informed. I just get so busy doing other things.
I am currently making glass wind chimes while Senor continues to enjoy working on the house.
He's got the vigas in on the second roof section and he has started the concrete sub floor under the portal.
He would like to get the roof done completely before the rainy season, but our rain has been unusual.
Since January we have had almost 2 1/2 inches. We had an inch just on Sunday.
Rain in the Sonoran desert in April? Unheard of, but well received and no water rationing I am aware of before Semana Santa.

And so it goes. We continue to be very happy going at our own pace, but maybe this year we will finish.........finish something anyway.
Que le vaya bien. Linda Lou

Thanks for the update - things are looking good. I still get confused when I see a photo looking down the length of the portal with the casa on the right because I remember there was a room on the end that made a corner (the Hilton Garden Room) and now it's a straight shot. Is it that you've built the rest of the casa out as far as that room extended? You don't really have to answer that ... I'm just thinking about it :-)

Abrazos,
Yennifer

hola Pat and carlos! Thanks so much for the comments! We face the East and many of our storms come from that direction (from the Copper Canyon). We really wanted a deep portal to allow us to stay outside without getting soaking wet during a heavy stor. I am very happy with it. The other night I realized I can dance from one end to the other, very nice.

okie dokie yennifer. you are right, it was L shaped. The Hilton Garden room was there and it is where the big roof beam is that the back of that room was located. farther beyond the HGR were and are 2 more rooms, the room to become the bath and then, the laundry room at the very end. The straight shot you see is the portal, but the space before the HGR has been built out as far as the HGR extended. Shoot, I have no idea if this will cause you more confusion. As I read it back I am confused.......
