Buenas tardes! Clouds are billowing from the west and the east this afternoon and I am hoping for a good storm. We keep getting these little pooky storms that give us a little rain, a little lightning, lots of thunder and very little wind. Don't misunderstand me, that is not a complaint. We will take anything we can get but it would be real nice to get some huge business going on here.
The rain, of course, any bit of it is real good for the garden and good for me since it cuts down on my watering time.
Senor especially wants it because he has all these little seedlings going and the humidity from the rain is good for those.
Above he is planting his tomato seeds, germination in 7-10 days, planting time into the garden 3 weeks. He is stoked, remember that word? Is it still a word? A word for a feeling? Feeling excited, happy, felicidades.........stirred up and fueled according to Webster, a stoked fire. Well, he is stoked over the upcoming planting season. And I never even knew he was a farmer.
These little seeds he is planting are coming from our child plants. The giant portal tomato from three years ago and last year's little baby reds.
And here are the big changes in the back yard. He has raised the long bed and will plant only Minnesota sweet corn in it.
He is building another bed and only the tomatoes will go in it.
Then he plans to build a third bed which will be for spinach, snow peas, chard, lettuce mixes and walla walla sweet onions.
And sometime after that he will put in a fourth bed which will be a flower cutting garden............
and some people have the nerve to wonder why our house is not complete.............well, we have other stuff to do, too, you know..........you cannot just work on a house all the time.
To the left is the tomato garden. Senor says good tomatoes need their home to be four feet deep. Lined with old adobes from the casa, those tomato roots should love this little space.
He already has his drip system back in place and is working on one for the tomatoes.
In the bottom photo are my little contributions, a pot of firecracker cayenne peppers which should be long and purple, orange and red, and a pot of sweet baby green cubanelle peppers.
So I am really looking forward to all this gardening stuff. Last year was a huge wonderful surprise and I have a feeling that with all that is going on, this year will be even more exciting. STOKED!!!!

I love your individual growing beds... I'm sure your plants will too. I have one raised bed which the rhubarb shares with the chives, parsley and garlic... but they all seem to get on.
Nice job Senor! The beds look great & what a nice garden you will have. I've gotten behind on the blog so just now seeing it's "new look"....looks really good!! Love the pretty orange background...and the cows!
