The Rain Contest Begins

Hola, hola, bahola.

Got back from Guaymas yesterday in time for Senor to go play bridge and I enjoyed a nice lazy afternoon with Cookies.

We have to return to Guaymas next week to get the visas. Good grief. At least it is only a 4 hour drive.

They asked us for something we have never been asked for. They wanted a cover letter of our bank statement, translated fully into Spanish. Fortunately, they said they would do this for us this time. We would not know how to format the letter with all of its columns and boxes. They told us we would need to supply it next year....blah, blah, blah. I am going to pretty much play ignorance with that. If they want a translated bank statement from me, they can figure out how to get it just like they did the other day.

As always I was a nervous fool and wanted to throw up before we got to the office. This was our 4th time but it doesn't get any easier. We were 1st in line and an American couple from San Carlos came up behind us. She was all happy and relaxed and I though, jeez, that must be nice until Senor pointed out she was drinking a Coors light, right there in the INM office, in plain sight, at 8am in the morning. She didn't even bat at eye when she and her husband were told they would need to return in 15 days even though there they were just that morning, SUV all packed in the parking lot, ready to drive north to their home in the US.

Well, I am done worrying and no, I would never consider going to the INM with a beer in hand at 8am. I am not going to concern myself too much because Presidente Calderon signed a new Immigracion Law on May 25, changing everything we have been doing since the last change in May, 2010. Although this new law deals directly with changes for immigration over the southern borders of Mexico, it will definitely affect those of us with Visas. You can check out the new law, if you are so inclined at the link below, otherwise, like me, keep your blood pressure low and just pretend it does not exist ................

Now we can get on to a more important topic!

Dia de San Juan is an actual Mexican calendar day. It is the day of the rain of Saint San Juan, or the day the monsoon season is supposed to begin. I think it is June 22 and Senor says June 24. We cannot find our Mexico calendar to confirm. But not to worry.

Here is how it will work.

The person guessing closest to the day and time the rains begin will win the pendant below.

Choose one day and one time on that day. I am also listing the contest on my personal facebook page and on the Glasspondstudio facebook page, which you can access, if you want, through the Glasspondstudio page.

I will keep track of it all and when it rains, I will let you know the winner. You can choose any day. You don't need to wait and choose the 22nd or the 24th. Think positively. You could pick manana, although I wouldn't. It is dry as an old bleached bone around here even though the Weatherunderground predicted a 25% chance of rain last night. Blah, blah, blah.............

Tomorrow I hope to update you on the water situation, what Umberto did while we were gone, and I will show you the breadbox. For now, siesta.............linda lou

Okay, I have everyone down. Out of about 60 entries, so far, ter'e and jacqui, you are the only 2 that have guessed the same day and time. If you are right, we will have to draw numbers, okay?
We will let the contest go on until maybe next week or until i start seeing clouds over the mountains.

Hi LL, change mine to 9pm if it helps. We must have been posting at the same time.

Isn't that hilarious that Jacqui and I chose the same date and time? Like minds maybe????
Praying you get rain lots sooner ---- but hoping I win the pendant. LOL. Hey, I am honest!!!!! Your jewelry just rocks! You and Senor are simply too cute.
