The Hilton Garden Room

Buen Dia!
Over the weekend we had a lovely fiesta at the house. There were twelve of us and we spilled out of the Hilton Garden Room onto festive tables and feasted on grilled shrimp, fresh salads, roasted vegetables and fruit.

What a wonderful time. But today I am in a mood. It is not a bad one, but it is not a good one. It is a quiet one, one that says, okay, whatever, I give in, if we have to...............

As I write Senor is removing the fans and the lights from the garden room. The furniture has been moved. The plants are not there.

The roof is coming down today. I think I am sad.

We are going to be in here now for who knows how long. It is not a depressing room. It will one day be our bedroom. It will be painted then, new floor, lovely Mexican light fixtures, the beautiful kiva Senor built, lovely room. But it is not the garden room, where we have sat for two years, enjoying lunch or dinner, reading books, listening to music, talking about our casa, marveling at our view, taking in the smell of the flowers we have planted.

So, it is darker, mustier, dustier, and there is less breeze. As Senor is quick to point out, it does have a roof.
Sunday we went to the beach. It was very relaxing, very breezy, beautiful sunny day.

I am listening to the roof crashing down onto the garden room floor. I think I just want to go back to the beach.............................

Demoliton is hard to accept sometimes, especially when you have fond memories of good times with friends. What will become of your garden room, it it to be rebuilt better or is it to become something else?

I am pleased that the inside of our house is done, any more building work is outside. Neil does want to knock through from the utility to the lounge and put a door in but I want it left as it is so for now, nothing is happening to it.

I hpe tomorrow is a better day for you.

We have been adding on to our kitchen nine feet and doing a total kitchen remodel. This has been going on since the third week in January. You have been doing your whole house remodel for almost 2 years. I am surprised you haven't been committed yet. 2 years is a long time to remodel a house. WOW!!!! You deserve some down time. You have been a saint.

Hi Linda, as I remember the hilton garden room is going to become your living room and you will have that new long, beautiful portal to make new memories and future fiestas. However, I understand, I frequently am reluctant to change what I'm comfortable with too. By the way, the kiva and the cieling in the bedroom look beautiful!

Jacqui, the garden room will become part of the enclosed sala, termites are in the wood vigas, which is one reason it all has to change. we will have concrete vigas there.
Jan! Thanks for commenting. I wish I could see your pictures of your remodel. Nine new feet is alot of good space. what will be there?
Ian, you are right, it will be one of the four rooms that will become one large open room, but enclosed with doors that lead out to the long portal..someday!
Thanks all I AM better today!

I fully understand the concern over changing circumstances.
